Lowlander World Record Attempt

Nestled right along the ‘IJ in the vibrant area of Amsterdam North, in the building that used to house restaurant Stork, you will now find Lowlander Botanical Bar & Restaurant. The unexpected location inside an industrial warehouse adds to the appeal of this charming spacious restaurant with a cosy interior. On a beautiful sunny day, the terrace by the water provides a picturesque setting for guests to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The enthusiastic staff warmly welcomed us and treated us to a house-made botanical soda infused with the delightful flavours of rhubarb and lavender.

On Saturday, May 11, Lowlander took a shot at the record “Event with the most number of charcuterie boards”. Lowlander wants to bring a record number of people together at their botanical restaurant. We had the pleasure of attending this unique event at the restaurant, which aimed to break the world record for ‘borrelplanken’.

We brought our own empty charcuterie board, which they filled with delicious plant based delicacies and provided us with indulgent, delicious drinks. The platter featured the most exquisite vegan bitterballen we’ve ever tasted, a spicy mushroom delicacy. They came accompanied by mushroom hummus, fresh sourdough bread, cheese, and radishes, the vegetarian spread was not only flavourful but incredibly satisfying.

The Dutch love socializing while enjoying a few drinks. Four out of ten Dutch people have a weekly drink and 85% of the Dutch population believes that a snack should accompany a drink.* Lowlander brings together drinkers every day at Lowlander Botanical Bar & Restaurant and on May 11, it’s stepping it up with this record attempt.

People gathered at Lowlander Botanical Bar & Restaurant with one mission: B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Borrelplank.). Because whoever brought their own trusty borrelplank could have it filled with Lowlander bites for free. Only your matching botanical beers needed to be chosen.

One of the standout features of Lowlander Botanical Bar is their commitment to crafting their own beers and drinks, expertly pairing them with their mouth-watering dishes. Sampling all four of the unique beers on offer, each showcased a distinct botanical and spiced quality, elevating the overall experience.
